Phthalates are widely used as plasticizers in consumer products and industrial materials. Because of their potential adverse effects on human health and the environment, comprehensive analytical methods capable of simultaneously determining multiple phthalates are increasingly required. Current regulatory methods primarily focus on regulated phthalates, highlighting the need for analytical methods with broader compound coverage. In this
study, a simultaneous analytical method for multiple phthalates was developed
using the Thermo Scientific ISQ™ 7610 single quadrupole GC-MS system. The
proposed method enables the simultaneous determination of regulated phthalates
together with additional target compounds in a single analytical run.
Chromatographic and mass spectrometric conditions were optimized to achieve
reliable separation, high sensitivity, and excellent reproducibility. The ISQ™
7610 GC-MS, operated in selected ion monitoring (SIM) mode, provided sufficient
sensitivity and selectivity for the simultaneous analysis of all target
compounds.
