Alkylphenols are widely used in various industrial and household applications, including detergents, paints, herbicides, insecticides, and emulsifiers. Despite their utility, alkylphenols are known for their endocrine-disrupting properties, which can interfere with hormone function and cause adverse health effects such as hepatotoxicity, genotoxicity, and reproductive issues in both humans and wildlife. These compounds persist in the environment and have been detected worldwide in air, water, soil, food, and even in human blood and urine. The objective of this study is to concentrate and monitor alkylphenols in drinking water. Water samples were collected from various water treatment plants, and alkylphenols were achieved by solid phase extraction and followed by trimethylsilylation. Analysis was conducted using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in multiple reaction monitoring mode. The study demonstrated high linearity with R² values above 0.9915 - 0.9999, and the limits of quantification were 0.0015 ng/ml - 0.006 ng/ml. It is useful to monitoring alkylphenols in drinking water. |
