The overuse of veterinary drugs has led to the rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and caused various side effects. Therefore, it is crucial to develop an analytical method for monitoring the presence of residual veterinary drugs in meat and to regulate their safe use. In this study, an analytical method for six sulfonamide veterinary drugs was established for beef samples containing dapsone, sulfadiazine, sulfamethoxazole, sulfathiazole, sulfisoxazole, and sulfamethazine, using the isotope dilution mass spectrometry method. To prepare the beef samples, the beef was freeze-dried, pulverized, and then spiked with the six sulfonamides. The sample was extracted using ethyl acetate and a Prime HLB cartridge. Ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was employed for sample analysis. The method was validated with three different concentration levels of the target analytes, resulting in recovery rates ranging from 98 % to 103 %. This developed analytical method successfully quantified the six sulfonamides in the beef samples, overcoming matrix effects. |
